Pricing for the 2014 Kia Cadenza is out. The big sedan starts at $35,900, including destination, and stretches to $41,900 with the luxury and technology packages added. Kia expects Cadenzas to appear in dealers by the end of the month.
Those prices may seem high, but the Kia Cadenza comes pretty well equipped before adding any of the three option packages. Every Cadenza ships with navigation, a 12-speaker premium audio system, dual-zone climate control, heated leather seats, a rear-view camera, and UVO eServices. UVO eServices ups Kia’s already impressive infotainment game by adding Android and iOS apps that interface with the car to do everything from help schedule the car’s maintenance to providing a reminder of where you parked at the mall. eServices are free for 10 years or 100,000 miles.
The sole powertrain for all 2014 Kia Cadenza models is a 293-hp, 3.3-liter V-6 that sends power to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Direct injection, dual continuously variable valve timing, and a three-phase intake manifold are the tech highlights for the engine and all help achieve the 19/28 mpg EPA ratings.
Stepping up to the luxury package adds a reasonable $3000 to the Cadenza’s price and includes Napa leather, active HID headlights, a big panoramic sunroof, a heated steering wheel and rear seats, and a ventilated driver’s seat. A 2014 Kia Cadenza with the luxury package strikes the best balance of price and equipment in the Cadenza range.
Going all-in with the luxury and technology packages on the 2014 Kia Cadenza bumps the price to $41,900 and adds a slew of features that includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot and lane departure warning systems, 19-inch wheels, an electric parking brake with auto-hold, and a coating on the front windows that repels water. During our first drive we were less than thrilled with the lane departure warning system because it beeps so loudly when the car thinks it is headed out of the lane. The blind spot monitoring system was far less distracting.
Kia also discussed a white interior package during the car’s introduction last week, but there has not been any indication of what that package will cost once it is offered later this year.
