The latest special-edition Hyundai Veloster is called the RE:FLEX, and it debuts at the 2014 Chicago auto show as a follow-up to the Veloster RE:MIX that was introduction in fall 2012. The new car, the 2014 Hyundai Veloster RE:FLEX, goes on sale this spring and is limited to just 3000 units.
The car could easily be called the Veloster RE:FLECT, as chrome is used for the 18-inch wheels, the door handles, and a pair of hood accent pieces. LED running and taillights, fog lights, and illuminated door-sill plates help brighten the car up.Inside, things are a little more subtle, with black or red leather seats, as well as the $1800 Style Package that bundles piano-black interior trim, a 450-watt sound system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, and alloy pedals. All versions of the 2014 Hyundai Veloster also now have a backup camera as standard. Notably, the RE:FLEX is the only non-turbo Veloster that is offered with leather seating.
The RE:FLEX treatment is only available on the standard 2014 Hyundai Veloster, not the turbo, so buyers receive a 138-hp, 1.6-liter inline-four that mates exclusively to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. While the Ice Pearl paint shown here is exclusive to the Veloster RE:FLEX, the hatchback can also be painted Century White, Vitamin C, Ultra Black, or Boston Red.
While pricing for the RE:FLEX model won’t be announced until a later date, the package shouldn’t cost too much more than the car on which it is based. A 2014 Hyundai Veloster with the dual-clutch transmission and Style Package starts at $21,660, including destination.
