2014 Honda Civic Priced at $18,980

The Civic receives a new CVT and infotainment system for 2014.

The 2014 Honda Civic sedan and coupe are both updated for 2014, and this mild refresh comes with a mild pricing bump up to a starting price of $18,980 with destination for a 2014 Honda Civic LX coupe equipped with a manual transmission. The 2014 Honda Civic LX sedan starts $200 higher, at $19,180 with destination. These prices represent a $225 price hike over the 2013 Honda Civic.

One major improvement for the 2014 Honda Civic is a new, optional continuously variable transmission which replaces the five-speed automatic from before and bumps fuel economy to an estimated 30/39/33 mpg city/highway/combined, 2 mpg higher and the city and 1 mpg higher combined. This CVT is an $800 option on LX coupe, LX sedan, and EX coupe models, but comes standard on EX sedan as well as EX-L and EX-L with Navigation sedan and coupe trim levels. The special, high fuel economy Civic HF—which costs $20,730 for 2014—also comes standard with the CVT and now achieves estimated fuel economy ratings of 31/41/35 mpg city/highway/combined.

Another addition to the 2014 Honda Civic lineup is a new touchscreen infotainment system equipped with HondaLink smartphone integration. This setup comes standard on EX trim levels and up and has touch-capacitive controls which allow users to swipe, flick, and pinch, and tap inputs on the seven-inch screen much like a smartphone or tablet.

The 2014 Honda Civic lineup starts off with the base LX, which includes standard features like Bluetooth, cruise control, a backup camera, a USB audio jack, Pandora integration, and keyless entry. Stepping up to the EX, which costs $21,080 for the coupe with a manual and $21,880 for the sedan with a CVT, adds features like alloy wheels, automatic climate control, the aforementioned touchscreen infotainment system, a sunroof, a pushbutton start and smart entry system, and Honda’s LaneWatch camera feature that uses a camera on the passenger side mirror to provide the driver with a better view of the car’s blind spot.

Next up is the EX-L trim, which starts at $23,330 for the coupe and $23,530 for the sedan. Civic EX-L models gain leather seats, a power driver’s seat, fog lights, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Finally, the EX-L with Navigation—$24,830 for the coupe and $25,030 for the sedan—adds, predictably, a GPS navigation system to the touchscreen, along with voice recognition, HD and satellite radio capability, and a multi-view backup camera.

The 2014 Honda Civic sedan and coupe both go on sale today. Pricing for the 2014 Honda Civic Hybrid and Civic Si have not yet been announced.
