Honda is tapping into the Civic’s longstanding reputation with tuners by revealing the refreshed 2014 Honda Civic Coupe at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas on November 5.
At this point Honda is not releasing any information about the car other than a photo of the 2014 Honda Civic Si, which it says will receive “performance enhancements” in addition to the “sharpened” exterior styling that the standard Honda Civic Coupe will receive. The Honda Civic was redesigned in 2012 to much criticism, and Honda revealed a refreshed 2013 Honda Civic sedan (pictured below) just one year later at the 2012 Los Angeles auto show with revised styling, interior materials, chassis tuning, and standard equipment.
It may seem strange to revise the Honda Civic once again for 2014, but since the 2013 Honda Civic Coupe received far fewer exterior styling changes than the sedan it makes sense to update the coupe’s styling to match the rest of the lineup. From the photo of the 2014 Honda Civic Si coupe that Honda has released, we can see a new taillight design with a more angular shape, as well as a more muscular front fender with front headlights that protrude from the body. We’ll learn more about the supposed performance upgrades for the Civic Si in a few weeks, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this means more power from the Honda Civic Si’s 2.4-liter four-cylinder, which produces 201-hp in the current Civic Si.
Honda says the refreshed 2014 Honda Civic Coupe is supposed to preview more updates for the entire 2014 Honda Civic lineup, but we would expect the sedan and Hybrid models will receive fewer changes than the coupes.
