2014 Ford Mustang Gets Slight Price Increases, Mild Visual Tweaks

The 2014 Ford Mustang will look a little bit different than this year’s model, both inside and out. The latest iteration of the Mustang has different colors, a few new aesthetic packages, and revised gauges.

As to colors, the 2014 model year means that the Oxford White, Ruby Red Metallic, and School Bus Yellow choices are gone; the first two will be replaced with High Performance White and Red Candy Metallic, respectively. School Bus Yellow was exclusive to the Mustang Boss 302, and because that high-performance model was discontinued after the 2013 model year, the color dies, too.

One visual trim package has been deleted, but two new ones are available for 2014. Gone is Exterior Appearance Package 101A, which consisted of tape stripes along the lower door edge and a trunk spoiler. For the new model year, Ford Mustang V-6 models can be equipped with the FP6 Appearance Package, which includes black mirrors, a black trunk spoiler, quarter-window louver panels, and 18-inch black aluminum wheels. The FP8 Appearance Package for Mustang GTs is identical, but with 19-inch wheels instead.

In addition, all 2014 Ford Mustangs benefit from new graphics for the tachometer and speedometer.

Sticker prices for the new car are identical to last year — except for the GT500. The 2014 Ford Mustang coupe starts at $22,995, while the Mustang convertible costs $27,995. Pricing for the 2014 Mustang GT Premium coupe starts at $35,545. The 2014 Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe now costs $55,445, an increase of $450 compared to last year. Shelby GT500 convertible pricing also rises by $450, to $60,445. All prices include a $795 destination charge.

This will be the last model year for the current generation Ford Mustang. An all-new version is expected for 2015, which will likely debut early next year. Based on our spy photos and sources, we expect the 2015 Ford Mustang to have a tapered nose, independent rear suspension, and wide-mouthed front-end styling that recalls the Ford Evos concept. (In fact, Ford’s Hau Thai-Tang previously told us the 2015 Mustang will have “Kinetic 2.0” styling inspired by that of the Evos.)

The 2014 Ford Mustang is on sale now.
