2014 Dodge Durango Gets Mean With New Blacktop Package

Ron Burgundy has been rather vocal about his enthusiasm for the 2014 Dodge Durango, but the SUV’s new Blacktop package means he can roll up to the next news team battle royale and make his foes shake in their boots. The Blacktop package, already offered on six other Dodge vehicles, is available on 2014 Dodge Durango SXT, Limited, and R/T models.

The 2014 Dodge Durango SXT Blacktop gets a serious dash of darkness, adding 20-inch aluminum wheels, side mirrors, and badging all painted in Gloss Black. Up front the Durango’s crosshair grille and grille surround also get the Gloss Black treatment, matching the black headlamp bezels. Bright –tipped dual rear exhaust ports are also included in the $1590 package. Starting price for the rear-wheel-drive Durango SXT comes in at $30,990 including delivery.

2014 Dodge Durango Limited Blacktop models receive the same list of upgrades as that of the SXT Blacktop, with the addition of HID headlamps and LED daytime running lamps. The Blacktop package costs $1990 for the Durango Limited. The standard, rear-wheel-drive Durango Limited costs $37,490 including delivery.

Blacktop treatment costs only $295 when adding to the 2014 Dodge Durango R/T (normally $40,290 for rear-wheel-drive models), which adds just the black wheels, black grille, and black badging. The 5.7-liter Hemi V-8-powered, 360-hp Durango R/T already comes with 20-inchers and other premium equipment, helping cut down the cost of the Blacktop upgrades. Durango Limited and SXT models both use the base 295-hp Pentastar V-6 engine displacing 3.6 liters.

The 2014 Dodge Durango Blacktop joins the Blacktop-fitted Charger, Challenger, Dart, Avenger, Grand Caravan, and Journey in Dodge’s lineup. Dealerships will begin selling Durango Blacktop models in October.
