2014 BMW 4 Series Build-Your-Own Feature Available

All the combinations of BMW’s newest coupe.

Just a few weeks after the debut of the new 2014 BMW 4 Series coupe, the online configurator is now live on BMW’s website. The 2014 BMW 4 Series will start at $41,425 with destination for the base 428i model. That’s $3,650 more expensive than the equivalent 328i sedan which starts at $37,775 with destination.

The 2014 BMW 4 Series is essentially a coupe version of the venerable 3 Series and introduces BMW’s new naming strategy for this model, which splits the sedan and coupe lines with separate number designations. The 4 Series is available in four different models: the 428i Coupe, the 428i xDrive Coupe, the 435i Coupe, and the 435i xDrive Coupe. 428 models are equipped with a 240-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, and 435 models are equipped with a 300-hp, 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder. As with other BMW models, the xDrive nomenclature signifies the addition of all-wheel drive.

Building a 4 Series Coupe begins with the selection of one of four different model lines: the standard 4 Series, the Sport Line, the Luxury Line, or the M Sport. The Sport Line adds 18-inch double-spoke wheels, sport seats, and a unique grille design and costs $1,700; the Luxury Line adds 18-inch multi-spoke wheels, wood trim, and chrome exterior trim for $1,400; and the M Sport line offers a body kit, an M Sport steering wheel, M sport wheels, and sport seats for $3,100.

All 4 Series models are available with either an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission, except the 428i xDrive that is only available with the automatic. Numerous packages are available on all 4 Series models, including a Premium Package (keyless entry and satellite radio), a Dynamic Handling package (sport steering and adaptive suspension), and a Technology Package (smartphone integration, navigation, BMW app support, and traffic information). Loading up the 4 Series adds up quickly, with prices of well-equipped models pushing almost $70,000.
