Nissan is in no rush to release its new 2013 Altima sedan–the current Nissan Altima remains to be the brand’s top seller–so it shouldn’t be surprising that the car is in no rush to be unveiled, either.
Once again, Nissan has teased the upcoming Altima with a very brief video (this one clocks in at seven seconds) and an accompanying photo, this time of the front clip. From the looks of things, it would appear that the 2013 Nissan Altima will get a slightly flashier version of the front-end on the 2012 Versa sedan: an upside-down trapezoid of a grille with triangular headlights. On this car, however, the grille is larger and the front end appears a bit more angular and muscular than the curvy Versa. The overall front-end treatment looks like a more toned version of the Ellure Concept from the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Under that hood, we still predict that the new Nissan Altima will receive a small four-cylinder engine, as well as a sportier offering with a V-6 engine, as well as a new hybrid that should feature a 2.5-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. All three will likely be mated to the company’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission.
Expect to hear more about the Nissan Altima in the months leading up to its official reveal at the 2012 New York Auto Show next month.
