2013 Maserati GranTurismo Gains New Look, Power; Will Debut in Geneva

With sexy Italian styling and its sweet sounding Ferrari-derived V-8, it’s no surprise that the Maserati GranTurismo is one of the most alluring grand touring coupes on the market. The Italian carmaker hopes to increase its appeal even further with more power for the 2013 Maserati GranTurismo Sport.

The new coupe is set to debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The biggest change is found under the hood, where the 4.7-liter V-8 engine has been tuned to produce 460 hp, up from 433 in the 2012 model. And in case you’re wondering, that also makes it stronger than the 444-hp Maserati GranTurismo MC, so expect a power bump for the range-topper as well. Maserati hasn’t released complete details on the upgrade, but we suspect that a few ECU and exhaust tweaks were involved.

The 2013 Maserati GranTurismo Sport also receives cosmetic revisions, including redesigned seats and steering wheel. Outside, a new front fascia sports larger air dams that mimic the sportier MC model. Revised headlight housings that include new LED daytime running lamps complete the changes up front. Aside from darker taillights, the Maserati GranTurismo Sport’s rump was left alone. Expect more details to follow after its official debut in Switzerland.
