The 2013 Lexus ES has had a good past few weeks – not only does it continue to be the brand’s best-selling sedan, it also achieved a five-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Both the 2013 ES350 and ES300h hybrid scored a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, despite only scoring four stars in the rollover crash test. In the front and side impact crash tests, the ES350 and ES300h each received five stars. All ES models come standard with stability control, 10 airbags, and a pre-collision system; rear cross traffic assist, blind spot monitor, and lane departure systems are all optional. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also rated the 2013 ES350 a Top Safety Pick, but has yet to test the ES300h.
Lexus joins many of its peers in the class with high marks in safety. The Acura TL, the Audi A4, and the Volvo S60 are all also IIHS Top Safety Picks. The Audi and the Volvo also received five-star overall crash-test ratings from NHTSA.
Pricing for the 2013 Lexus ES starts at $36,995 for the V-6-powered ES350 and $39,745 for the hybrid ES300h; both prices after destination.
