A new Honda Factory Performance package is now on sale for the 2013 Honda Accord Coupe V-6. The upgrade was previewed last year at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show and is now available at dealers for $4620, before installation.
Before putting the kit on sale, Honda enlisted racing division Honda Performance Development to test the standard 2013 Honda Accord Coupe V-6 back-to-back with the upgraded model. As engineers explain in the video below, the Honda Factory Performance package makes the Accord more responsive and nimble on track.
“With a lowered ride height, sport suspension and more performance-oriented tires, the HFP kit definitely provides more controlled body motions and enhanced stability,” Honda Performance Development senior program manager Lee Niffenegger said.
The Honda Factory Performance package adds unique 19-inch alloy wheels with summer tires, a stiffer suspension that lowers the car by 0.6 inch, a trunk spoiler, a front lip, a rear lip, and side skirts, red interior ambient lighting, HFP badges, and special red HFP floor mats. The package comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty and can be selected when a customer buys his or her new 2013 Honda Accord Coupe V-6. Just 500 units of the Honda Factory Performance package will be sold.
The 2013 Honda Accord Coupe V-6 uses a 3.5-liter engine rated for 278 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. It is available either with a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. Pricing for the base, four-cylinder 2013 Honda Accord Coupe starts at $24,140 (including a $790 destination charge), while the Accord Coupe V-6 starts at $31,140 with a manual transmission.
