Add another feather in the 2013 Honda Accord’s cap: the two-door coupe version has earned a five-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Accord coupe joins the sedan with a five-star overall rating from NHTSA; both models have been selected as Top Safety Pick+ vehicles by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, as well. The coupe actually bested the sedan in NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program, achieving five stars in frontal, side, and rollover crash tests. The Accord sedan scored five stars in side and rollover test, but just four stars in the frontal crash test. The IIHS has rated the 2013 Accord coupe as “Good” in each of its categories except the small overlap front test, where the coupe scored “Average.” (The sedan was rated as “Good” in every test.)
The Accord coupe’s main competition – the Nissan Altima coupe – has not been fully tested by NHTSA, but did receive five stars in the rollover crash test.
Pricing for the 2013 Honda Accord coupe starts at $24,140 including destination. Standard safety equipment includes front, front-side, and side-curtain airbags; stability control; a backup camera; and a tire pressure monitoring system. Optional equipment includes things like forward collision and lane departure warning.
