Want to count the number of permutations buyers can order a new 2013 F-150? You might need a specialized calculator – perhaps one manufactured by Cray – to quickly crunch that number. Thankfully, talking pricing numbers is a bit easier: a new 2013 F-150 can be yours for as little as $24,665.
That figure – which also includes $995 in destination fees – gets you into a base 2013 F-150 XL 4×2, complete with a regular cab (XL models are the only F150 models available in two-door form), a 6.5-foot bed, a 3.7-liter V-6, and a six-speed automatic. Want to upgrade to a 5.0-liter V-8? Add $1000. Interested in the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6? That’s another $2395. Four-wheel drive? Another $4640.
That $24,665 base price represents a $160 increase over a comparable 2012 F-150 XL truck. The F-150 trim lineup hasn’t changed all that drastically year-to-year, and fittingly, neither has its pricing. A 2013 F-150 STX starts at $25, up $175 from last year. A 2013 XLT carries a base price of $29,680, which is $470 more than a 2012 model. A 2013 F-150 FX2 runs $35,835 (up $760), a 2013 Lariat $36,830 (up $515), and a 2013 FX4 $39,765 (up $760). Predictably, fiddling with engine, driveline, cab, bed, and content specifications will drive those price points upwards, although adding an identical engine to two different trim levels may result in different price premiums.
The size of the price jump applied to top-trim 2013 F-150 models varies considerably. The off-road ready 2013 F-150 SVT Raptor, for instance, starts at $44,335, which is only $365 more than a 2012 model, which did without HID headlamps, MyFord Touch, and so on. 2013 F-150 King Ranch models now start at $44,510, which represents an increase of $690. 2013 F-150 Platinum models witness the largest jump: at $47,095, 2013 Platinum models are a whole $1465 more expensive than comparable 2012 trucks.
That said, a 2013 F-150 Platinum isn’t the most expensive F-150 money can buy. That honor goes to the new 2013 F-150 Limited, which stickers for a sizable $50,175. That’s about $3000 more than a Platinum, but it’s only about $150 more than the most expensive 2012 F-150, the F-150 Harley Davidson. One Limited perk: there’s nary an option to choose from, apart from four-wheel-drive, bed liner, tonneau cover, tailgate extender, and a tailgate step.
