The 2013 Chevrolet Spark and 2013 Ford Fusion will be busy in New York this week, as one gets ready to lead a field of 10,000 runners during the Color Run 5K race, while the other is showcased at an art gallery opening.
A multicolor Chevy Spark will pace nearly 10,000 runners this weekend during the Color Run. An urban 5K unlike any other, the race ultimately transforms into a festival of colors as runners are doused in dyed corn starch at each kilometer. Runners who finish the race are covered head to toe in the rainbow-colored powder. The 5K has been touring nationwide for the past year, and the Chevy Spark pace car will help wrap up the race’s inaugural season.
Much like the runners participating in the event, the Chevrolet Spark pace car sports a multitude of colors splattered all over its originally white sheet metal. The same theme continues inside, with splotches of colors taking over the interior. Making its debut in New York this weekend, the Spark will tour other cities including Washington D.C., Portland, and Miami this year. The 2013 schedule has not yet been announced.
Meanwhile, art gallery goers will see a new exhibit based on the 2013 Ford Fusion. Ford, together with Milk Studios in New York, has collaborated on a unique art gallery called “Wall to Wall: The Fusion Collective.” The gallery features a digital and physical gallery that showcases Ford’s evolving design language, highlighting Ford’s use of sustainable materials in its vehicles, such as the 38.9 recycled plastic water bottles that make up Fusion seats.
The exhibit will move to Los Angeles later this month, and finished works of art will be put on display on www.fusionists.co, while select pieces will be donated to art and design schools in New York.
