We all knew that Aston Martin was looking to revive the Lagonda name, but weren’t exactly sure on how it was going to do so. It looks like Aston Martin and Merceds-Benz are planning some sort of a partnership to reduce development time and costs for some upcoming models.
The first of these models that we have some details on is the next generation S-class/Lagonda. Mercedes-Benz will have responsibility for the engineering of the platform, so we can expect all the usual Mercedes techno gadgets to appear on the Lagaonda (including the new pre-scan suspension).
The drivetrains for the two cars should include several setups found in current Mercedes products, such as the hybrid system from the recently shown S400 Hybrid and a reworked version of the 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12 from Maybach and the 65-series AMGs.
Aston Martin will design both of the new bodies for the two cars. While the 2009 S-class looks good, the next generation by Aston should look even better.
