Pricing has been set for the sumptuous 2011 Audi R8 5.2 Spyder that first appeared at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Potential buyers should be ready to shell out for the V-10-powered roadster, which starts at $162,250 (destination charge included).
If you opt for Audi’s R-tronic semi-automatic gearbox, be prepared to pay a $9000 premium on top of that, bringing the “base” price to $171,250.
Our First Drive of Audi’s sumptuous R8 5.2 Spyder confirmed everything we need to know about the convertible: we want it. The R8 5.2 Spyder comes standard with a V-10 that produces 525 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque, routed through a six-speed manual transmission.
This news comes after Audi’s announcement of a less expensive 4.2 Spyder variant, which uses Audi’s 4.2-liter V-8 engine. By comparison, the 4.2 Spyder’s pricing starts at €121,000 ($148,500) in Europe, a significantly less expensive way to get into Audi’s halo roadster.
R8 5.2 Spyders will be available for delivery beginning in August.
