First Look: 2010 Scion xB Release Series 7.0

Another year, another special-edition Scion. The 2010 Scion xB Release Series 7.0 will debut this week at the 2009 Los Angeles auto show, and it carries some interesting special equipment.

Inside, the RS 7.0 receives special mesh seat covers with embroidered cushions, along with a leather-wrapped Razo shift knob. To illustrate to your friends that it is a limited-edition vehicle, a numbered dash plaque will be placed to the left of the steering column.

The Release Series 7.0 includes a four-piece body kit from Japanese firm DAMD, and is solely available in a special “Murasaki” (Japanese for “purple”) paint color. Toyota Racing Developments provided the center-exit performance exhaust, along with the 1-inch suspension drop.

Equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, xB Release Series 7.0 models start at $18,890, including a $670 destination charge. With the four-speed automatic, that figure moves to $19,940.

Look for these cars to arrive at Scion dealers later this month, but don’t expect them to last long — only 2000 examples will be built.
