Bring on the special-edition Scions. After using last December’s Los Angeles show to unveil a tricked-out xB, Scion unwrapped its latest package — the tC Release Series 6.0 — at the 2010 Chicago auto show.
This latest “RS” gets minor upgrades in the form of special paint and stripes and an Alpine stereo system. The new limited edition paint color is called Speedway Blue and it’s actually quite gorgeous in person, so it’s a little disappointing that Scion will only allow 1100 tC RS 6.0s out the door. Sprucing up the paint job is a set of flat black stripes just above the beltline with the RS 6.0 moniker engraved in them.
Inside, the theme carries over with blue inserts on black seats and blue stitching on the black steering wheel. Over on the center console, an Alpine 200-watt audio and navigation system offers up a 4.3-inch touchscreen connected to both USB and RCA ports and ready from the factory with HD Radio capability.
Each of the 1100 RS 6.0s will come with a special stainless steel badge on the dash denoting its build number. Manual transmission models start at $19,290; automatic transmissions add an extra $800 to the window sticker.
