2009 Chevrolet Corvette Competition Sport Package

Find a normal Corvette or Z06 too bland for your tastes, but not ready to step up to the ZR1? Perhaps the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Competition Sport package – available on both the base 1LT and Z06 coupes – will catch your fancy.

For the most part, the Competition Sport package is mostly an exercise in cosmetics. Cars equipped with the package will don gray racing stripes, headlamp bezels, and wheels. Inside, the cabin receives special aluminum pedals and Corvette Racing logos embroidered into the seats, while a new custom engine cover lies underhood. If you’re so bold, Chevy will even affix a set of racing numbers outside, though the exact number is reportedly based on the car’s VIN.
Mechanical changes come only if you add the package to a Corvette 1LT coupe, which forces the addition of the Z51 performance package. Z51 cars receive bigger brakes, a track-tuned suspension, a performance exhaust system, a differential cooler, and a limited-slip differential.
If the exterior tweaks aren’t up your alley, fear not – the Z51 package is still available on 1LT coupes without the Competition Sport package. We think that’s for the better, although adding a couple front fender stripes – much like those on the C4 Grand Sport edition – wouldn’t be half bad…
