2008 Volkswagen Jetta Clean Diesel Wagon

We love wagons and, while it may not be the most exciting estate in the world, we’re excited to report Volkswagen has finally revived the Jetta Wagon later this year.

Known in Europe as the Golf Variant, it was first shown at the Geneva Auto Show last year, and we a Clean Diesel-powered U.S. version at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Expect the diesel to join the gasoline-powered base 2.5-liter inline five (which gains 20hp for 2008) and the loveable 2.0T in more expensive models. The Jetta Wagon is roomy enough to entice some people out of their SUVs, but we think the less expensive Rabbit provides a slightly more exciting driving experience.

It doesn’t, however, come with the Jetta’s enormous glass sunroof. Or its available 140-hp, 235 lb-ft, 40+ mpg Clean Diesel Engine.
