2007 Fiat Grande Punto Abarth SS Concept

Fiat has a long history of building hotter versions of its already hot hatches, and most of them have been both visually unassuming and fast as stink. The Grande Punto Abarth SS – a faster, more hopped-up version of an already fast and hopped-up version of an ordinary hatchback – is no exception. The ordinary Grande Punto Abarth is equipped with a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 150 hp at 5500 rpm; the SS, though admittedly just a prototype, boasts even more boost pressure and an output of almost 180 hp.

The SS shares the ordinary Abarth’s six-speed manual and basic wheel design, but larger wheel arch flares and a bigger, more gaping air dam differentiate it from its lesser brother. And make it even hotter, if that’s possible.
