Ski Vacation: 2007 Audi A6 Avant and 2007 Land Rover LR3

Is there another vehicle as perfectly suited to transporting a group of friends to the mountain as an Audi – especially an A6 Avant? Optioned correctly, you can sling yourself to the lodge in an A6 Avant Quattro with front and rear seat heaters blazing, rain-sensing wipers set to brush away the flakes, and skis stored securely in the sack between the rear seats. The visibility will be great with bi-xenon headlights gleaming from the recent spray of standard headlight washers. Other cars will be able to see you too, because the A6 Avant has the most beautiful LED taillights to grace the fender of an automobile. Ever.

Even those who aren’t particularly fond of SUVs (several of our staffers included) find it hard not to like the LR3. It’s just so damn stylish, especially when its owners are engaged in any sort of lifestyle activity – like skiing. Equipped like a luxury sedan, the latest LR3 will handle well enough on the way to the resort (especially compared to old Land Rovers that had to be herded like sheep to stay between the lines), but it will really shine once you get to the mountain. The LR3 is so capable off-road it could probably be used as the double black diamond ski lift if the regular one ever broke down.
