Due in the US in May of 2005, the Golf-based A3 may make the compact class a whole lot more fabulous.
The may just be a fancier version of the next-generation VW Golf, but it is a milestone because it will at once move Audi downmarket in the US and raise the bar for small car luxury and interior quality. BMW will follow suit with its similarly compact but upscale 1 Series coupe or sedan in the US, and suddenly small car won’t mean economy car anymore.
