2003 New York Auto Show: Ford Mustang Mach 1

[cars name="Ford"] did not unveil a show car, but simply announced that the Mach 1 will return as the third and presumably last special edition of the current Mustang. With production timed to correspond with the Mustang’s fortieth birthday, it is destined truly to be the current Mustang’s last hurrah before the all-new 2005 model debuts. Like the very popular 2003 Mach 1 model shown here, this 2004 edition will have a 305-horsepower and the signature ram-air “shaker” hood scoop that’s reminiscent of the original 1969 Mach 1. It will ride on seventeen-inch, five-spoke Heritage wheels with a galloping-pony logo inspired by the original Mach 1’s wheel design. Two new colors, competition orange and screaming yellow, will be offered, and volume will be limited to fewer than 5000 copies. This is likely to be the most desirable of the three Mustang swan songs.
