If you’re interested in owning a vintage racer but can’t quite swing the sheetmetal that hits the track during the Monterey Motorsports Reunion, may we suggest this almost-ready-to-race 1989 Chevrolet Lumina NASCAR racer currently listed on Bring a Trailer?
Built by Hendrick Motorsports, this car was driven by Ken Schrader for four NASCAR Winston Cup seasons. With three victories and multiple podium finishes to its name, this car wasn’t a hopeless backmarker. Further, the car has three vintage race class wins under its belt with the current owner at the helm.
According to the seller, it is powered by an updated 350-cubic-inch V-8 that’s said to produce 715 horsepower, which is sent through a four-speed manual transmission. Additionally, the car has been fitted with larger brakes and an up-to-date fuel system as well.
The only bits of the car not ready to race are the seat belts, which will need to be replaced before it sees the track. There are also logbook issues to resolve as well.
Considering that the starting bid is a mere $5,000, those are minor speed bumps to go over on the road to acquiring a vintage stock car racer with real pedigree. The car is located in Little Rock, Arkansas, and is sold on a bill of sale. If you’re interested in racing to the sound of 350 roaring cubes while scratching the itch for 80s nostalgia, head over to Bring a Trailer and place your bid.
