140,310 2012 Ford Focus Models Recalled for Faulty Wiper Wiring Harness

The Problem: Ford is recalling some 2012 Ford Focus models built between August 1, 2010 through October 18, 2011. The wiring harness connector to the passenger-side wiper motor may be missing a seal. With the seal missing, water or other contaminants could accumulate in the connector, resulting in intermittent or non-function of passenger-side wiper motor, resulting in reduced visibility, and an increased risk of a crash.

The Fix: Owners of affected vehicles will be notified on or around May 21, 2012. Dealers will inspect, clean, and properly seal the wiper motor connection if needed. The recall campaign number is 12S29. Customers can contact Ford to see if their vehicle is affected at 866-436-7332.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 140,310 Focus models built between August 1, 2010 and October 18, 2011 are potentially affected.
