2002 Paris Auto Show – Jaguar XJ

The long-awaited successor to the XJ-series sedan looks purely evolutionary, yet every body panel has been redesigned and the chassis thoroughly revised. Engines include a 294-horsepower 4.2-liter V-8 and, for the high-performance XJR variant, a supercharged 390-horsepower 4.2. The engines are mated to a ZF six-speed automatic transmission. To save weight, Jaguar has crafted the body of aluminum (which accounts for the shiny finish on the paintless show car). The chassis design was adapted from the S-type and adds air suspension and active technology. —Global Auto Net
