Just like you, we always want to know what's coming next from Detroit, Tokyo, Stuttgart, Munich, Los Angeles, and all the other places where automotive engineers and designers dream and scheme on our behalf. Car companies, of course, are loath to share information on new products lest their competitors try to copy them--or you decide not to buy the cars they already have on dealer lots. Car companies, though, are simply groups of people, and some of them have a hard time keeping secrets. So, we poke, we prod, we cajole, and we uncover information that becomes the basis for our annual Sneak Preview issue. As always, some of our information is educated guesswork based on hints, insinuations, hunches. Make no mistake, though, these cars are on their way, even though details may change. Ladies and gentlemen: our list of 136 cars coming over the next few years...

2010 Mazda Mazdaspeed 3
Released on unsuspecting Subaru Impreza WRXs and Volkswagen GTIs for the 2007 model year, the scintillating Mazdaspeed 3 took precisely 5.9 seconds to become one of our favorite hot hatches. For 2010, a new 'Speed hones its manners with revised steering, a stiffened suspension, and fatter Dunlop SP Sport tires. Of course, the car sports a completely new look, one that is decidedly more pugnacious than the standard-issue hatchback and sedan, which are already on sale. The hood-mounted intercooler scoop is functional, but the 2.3-liter four beneath it carries over unchanged; turbocharged to the tune of 263 hp, it still drives the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. The transmission itself benefits from slightly taller gearing on cogs two through five, a tweak intended to make delivery of the engine's 280 lb-ft of torque a bit more linear. Top speed remains an electronically governed 155 mph. The 2010 MS3 is set to hit dealer showrooms by summer's end.

2009 Mazda MX-5 Miata Beyond a grinning new front fascia, Mazda's latest update to its iconic roadster brings a higher redline, a better shifter, and meaner sound, thanks to a resonance tube that pipes induction noise into the cabin. Mazda also worked on the interior, with comfier seats and improved storage.
2010 Mazda CX-7 and CX-9 Mazda's 2010 crossovers debuted at the New York auto show wearing Mazda's new corporate face. The CX-7 also gets a new 167-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder base engine; the 244-hp, turbocharged 2.3-liter soldiers on.
