Ford predicts that the small-car market will soon account for up to one-third of all vehicle sales, so you'd think it would have pulled out all the stops for its redesigned Focus. Instead, we get an anonymously styled four-door sedan and two-door coupe (no more wagon or hatchback). At least the interior--complete with Ford's new Sync system, a new center console, and subtle ambient lighting--has been nicely reworked. Driving dynamics have always been the Focus's strong point, and a retuned suspension setup should improve things even more, but don't look for much more power--the Duratec four-cylinder is up just 4 hp and is still paired with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
