We first expected to see the new 997 911 Turbo cabriolet at the Geneva show in April, and it didn't show. We were stood up again last month in New York. The new, most expensive model of the 911 lineup has finally broken cover, fashionably late, in May. While pictures (in a very obnoxious yellow) of the new Turbo cabrio have been released, the car itself won't be seen at dealerships until September 2007. It will use the same twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter found in the coupe, and like in that car, it will produce 480 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque, enough to have your hair blowing back at sixty miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds. Unfortunately, Porsche wasn't able to find away around a common drawback of convertibles, as this one weighs 154 pounds more than its coupe counterpart. Pricing for the U.S. hasn't been announced, but we expect the 911 Turbo cabriolet to arrive with a price tag of around $130,000. ...next page >>
