2010 Lotus Exige
Released in 2006, the Exige is basically a hard top version of the Elise. With an aluminum frame chemically bonded together and weighing only 150 lbs combined with a composite body and lack of occupant amenities, Lotus is able to keep the weight down to nearly that of the Elise, at around 2100 lbs. The Exige maintains the Elise's lack of daily driver civility, both in its sparse, loud interior and it's sometimes unnerving difficulty to get in and out of.

However, this compact, superlight coupe is not meant to haul the kids to soccer. It is meant to carve the back roads like a knife through butter. At this, it performs magnificently. It's Toyota sourced 1.8 liter four cylinder makes 240 HP and shifted through a conventional six speed manual transmission. More than enough to pull this cars scant mass forward at supercar rates. In fact, Lotus claims that the Exige can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds all the while registering a 22 miles per gallon fuel economy.

There are some options to be had, which are placed into several packages.
Hennessey has yet to give us some official performance metrics for its insane Venom GT, but the company did kindly provide some footage of its new 725-horsepower, matte black machine ripping up the roads of England.
To commemorate one of the greatest Formula 1 cars in history, Lotus is building a limited edition Exige S Type 72, painted in the same black-and-gold livery found on the old Type 72 F1 car.
If documents filed in the British patent office are any indication, Lotus seems to be toying with developing its own dual-clutch gearbox. The company, always known for innovation, will likely use the transmission in its own cars and possibly sell the technology (or parts) to other automakers.

Lotus F1 Racing confirmed its entry into Formula 1 for the 2010 season one month ago, but the team is already prepared to start wind-tunnel testing on a scale model. Could this be a sign that the team is up to the task of developing an entire F1 in a scant five months?

Recall Date
Lotus Cars USA, Inc. (Lotus) is recalling certain model year 2008-2011 Elise and Exige vehicles manufactured from November 2007 to July 2011, and 2011 Evora vehicles manufactured September 2010 through September 2011. The oil cooler hose may detach from its fitting.
A detached oil hose could spray oil on a tire, increasing the risk of a crash, or it could spray oil throughout the engine compartment, increasing the risk of a fire.
Lotus will notify owners, and dealers will replace the oil cooler hose fittings on the Elise and Exige vehicles and will replace the oil cooler hose assemblies on the Evora vehicles, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Lotus at 1-800-245-6887. Lotus' number for this recall is 201401R (Elise/Exige), and 2014/02R (Evora). Note: This recall is an expansion of recalls 11V-510 and 13V-041.
