2010 Lotus Elise
2010 Lotus Elise
While the Elise was available for some time in Great Britain, it only came to US shores in 2004. It's certainly not a car to be driven every day; it's purity of design makes for a very Spartan, minimalist interior. Its suspension is tuned for the track and even ingress and egress from the cabin requires a fair degree of agility. And at full throttle, the cacophony from the engine bay and the exhaust will soon leave you unable to hear anything else.

In its element, however, this 2000 lb. roadster rewards its driver like few other cars can. It's very light weight, combines with its hugely stiff structure, give it the ability to carve back roads like a supercar. The Elise is built from a modular aluminum structure that is bonded and riveted together. Steel sub frames and composite body panels round out this package.

The power for this micro sports car comes from a Toyota sourced 1.8 liter four cylinder. While not the most imposing of engines, it doesn't' have much mass to pull around, so it still remains a very responsive option.

With strict emission laws about to take place in Europe, supercar manufacturers in the region must figure out how to reduce their CO2 averages. Thus far, Ferrari seems to be doing the best job among its competitors. The upcoming EU restriction will require automakers to achieve a fleet average of 130 grams per kilometer driven.

Hollywood and cars just seem to go together right? Lotus seems to think so as the British sports car firm took advantage of the Los Angeles Auto Show and brought its future lineup to Hollywood for some photographs.
Roger Becker, formerly the director of Lotus’ vehicle engineering, celebrated 44 years of service with Lotus before retiring this past January. In honor of his service, Lotus is introducing special edition Elise SC RGB and Exige S RGB models.

Recall Date
Lotus Cars USA, Inc. (Lotus) is recalling certain model year 2008-2011 Elise and Exige vehicles manufactured from November 2007 to July 2011, and 2011 Evora vehicles manufactured September 2010 through September 2011. The oil cooler hose may detach from its fitting.
A detached oil hose could spray oil on a tire, increasing the risk of a crash, or it could spray oil throughout the engine compartment, increasing the risk of a fire.
Lotus will notify owners, and dealers will replace the oil cooler hose fittings on the Elise and Exige vehicles and will replace the oil cooler hose assemblies on the Evora vehicles, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Lotus at 1-800-245-6887. Lotus' number for this recall is 201401R (Elise/Exige), and 2014/02R (Evora). Note: This recall is an expansion of recalls 11V-510 and 13V-041.
