2012 lamborghini aventador Reviews and News

2012 Lamborghini Aventador
2012 Lamborghini Aventador
The Lamborghini Aventador replaces the Murcielago, and those are some pretty big shoes to fill. As one of the world's preeminent supercars, the Murcielago was devastatingly quick and, despite its demure-for-Lambo looks, loud and brash. The Aventador takes a big step forward, technologically speaking: its seven-speed transmission uses only one clutch but is lighter than comparable dual-clutch setups, and it snaps off gearshifts like a machine gun. Power comes from a 6.5-liter V-12, which manages to be cleaner and more efficient than the old engine while amping up the power to a mind-blowing 691 horses. The Aventador uses carbon-fiber construction throughout its body (the passenger cell is one solid tub of carbon fiber), which keeps weight down despite the car's hulking size. With styling reminiscent of the Sesto Elemento concept car, the Aventador draws visual comparisons to a jet fighter, but it could draw performance comparisons, too. Lamborghini claims that the Aventador can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds and tops out in excess of 200 mph, putting it in an elite club of supercars. The Aventador is the ultimate metamorphosis of the Italian sports car. For those with the money to spend, having an Aventador in the garage is a one-way ticket to a world of speed and striking looks.
2013 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Top Down View
When Lamborghini showcased its topless Aventador J concept at the 2012 Geneva auto show, the crew in Sant'Agata called it a one-off, and it subsequently sold for $2.8 million to a private buyer. But given Lamborghini's history of producing open-top variants of its baddest bulls since the Diablo, the smart money was on an open-air version of the Aventador eventually appearing. Today, Lamborghini made it official with the introduction of the 2013 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster.

On the latest episode of Epic Drives, Motor Trend technical director Frank Markus takes the hairy-chested Lamborghini Aventador through Europe to retrace the genesis of Lamborghini's naming scheme, and eventually find the bullfighting ring that first make the Aventador name famous.

Lamborghini may be planning on unleashing two new versions of its flagship Aventador soon, but parent company Volkswagen is reportedly debating whether the company should table the Urus and the related Bentley EXP 9 F luxury SUVs due to economic issues in Europe.
Drag Race Lineup 2
After Motor Trend debuted its second "World's Greatest Drag Race,” we were impressed. But just what went into orchestrating the epic 11-car sprint? Jessi Lang has the scoop in this episode of Wide Open Throttle. The team took to the former Marine base El Toro in Orange County, California for the dream-come-true drag race. However, as Lang points out, El Toro isn't quite perfect – during last year's race, MT managed to break 11 windshields due to rocks on the runway. This year, the cars all had appliques applied to their windshields to protect against rocks and then were washed, gassed, and lined up to race. This behind-the-scenes video gives us a little treat: not only do we have the visual feast of all 11 cars storming down the El Toro runway; we're also treated to the vociferous aural delight of hearing all of the cars without any added soundtrack. The engines featured range from the 691-hp V-12-powered Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 to the Subaru BRZ with its 200-hp I-4 and everything in between. Make sure to take a look and a listen to the video below, and let us know which car here has your favorite exhaust sound. Source: YouTube Click here for video

Recall Date
Lamborghini is recalling certain model year 2012 Aventador vehicles manufactured July 15, 2011, through April 20, 2012 for failing to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." The affected vehicles may have headlights that can be aimed horizontally but not vertically.
An incorrect headlamp aim could reduce the drivers visibility and possibly blind oncoming traffic. Either condition may increase the risk of crash.
Lamborghini will notify owners, and dealers will enable the vertical aiming and disable the horizontal aiming of the headlights, free of charge. Owners may contact Lamborghini at 1-866-681-6276.
