2011 Honda CRV
2011 Honda CRV
Honda CRV brings a strong unibody design to the 2011 SUV lineup from Honda. This compact crossover SUV offers a very clever design and is one of the most competitive models in its class. This is not a big SUV, but its small form factor helps keep its price down and makes it available to many more people at a lower investment. The attention to detail and very smart packaging has made the CRV one of the more popular compact crossovers on the market. The interior cubic footage classifies this vehicle as a large sedan, but it does not look anything like a classically designed sedan. In fact the CRV has a taller SUV styling that takes advantages of many sexy curves and looks that are barrowed from much larger SUV designs.

The CRV base model sells for only $21,695 and this seems to be a completive price point compared to other smaller crossover models. The 2.4 liter engine in the CRV crossover allows for plenty of acceleration and offers a very reliable long lasting performance, as in all Honda models.

Honda is mulling the idea of importing U.S.-made cars into Korea, according to Reuters. Speaking to reporters in Seoul on Wednesday, Honda CEO Takanobu Ito said the Japanese automaker is considering selling more cars imported from the U.S. in the Korean market. A spokesperson from American Honda confirmed to us that the move is being considered, though no official announcement has been made. This move is likely in response to the rising strength of the yen, which has decreased the cost-competitiveness and profitability of Japanese goods. With the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA) now pending approval, the reduced tariffs that would result from that agreement could make shipping from the U.S. an attractive option for Honda.

Toyota and Honda are starting to make progress after a downward trend in sales following the earthquake and tsunami that rocked Japan. Honda is reporting a 3.3-percent increase, while Toyota is still down just 3.2 percent, which looks better than last month’s 18.2-percent decrease. Nissan continues to post gains, up 18 percent.

The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the inflator, free of charge. Remedy parts are expected to be available in Fall 2016. Interim notices will be mailed to owners beginning on March 14, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are JX2, JX3 and JX4.
