2013 honda civic Reviews and News

2013 Honda Civic
2013 Honda Civic

New For 2013

The 2013 model adds features like standard Pandora Internet Radio connectivity, Bluetooth audio and phone capability, a rear-view camera, and steering-wheel audio controls. While the Civic has long been the benchmark of the compact segment, the 2013 model is a car that once again looks and feels like one.

Overview

Call it a change of course, mid-stream. With just months to go before Honda’s 2012 Civic went on sale, engineers realized that the new car wouldn’t wow critics, so the car went back into the shop for some upgrades. The 2013 Civic is the product of that eleventh-hour work, and it’s better for it. The new Civic keeps all of the 2012’s best attributes, including the smooth 140-hp, 1.8-liter in-line four engine (mated to a five-speed manual or automatic transmission), the optional 201-hp, 2.4-liter in-line four (mated to a six-speed manual), and a clean, simple interior. The Civic still offers plenty of fuel economy (up to 41 mpg in HF form and 44 mpg in hybrid guise), predictable handling, rock-solid reliability, and commendably high resale values. But the interior has better materials and a better build quality; the front end has a more premium look with more chrome; and the rear-end is less bland. The 2013 model also adds features like standard Pandora Internet Radio connectivity, Bluetooth audio and phone capability, a rear-view camera, and steering-wheel audio controls. While the Civic has long been the benchmark of the compact segment, the 2013 model is a car that once again looks and feels like one.

Safety

Front, side, and side curtain air bags are standard, as are traction and stability control, ABS, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

Most of the headlines about social media usually involve celebrities and their inappropriate or bizarre public or private behavior, but the emergent genre of mass communications has caught the eye of major corporations, and is resulting in reallocation of marketing resources. American Honda has shifted its marketing budget to allocate as much as 30 percent of the overall marketing budget to social media and other non-traditional initiatives, according to Automotive News. American Honda senior vice president of marketing Mike Accavitti said the company needs to take more risks with its marketing strategy, and accepting that some will not be successful.

The refreshed-for-2013 Honda Civic is king of the compact segment. Honda sold 39,458 Civics last month, making it far-and-away the best-selling C-segment car in August. In its rearview mirror was the Toyota Corolla, with 26,861 cars sold, and in third place was the hot-selling Hyundai Elantra, with 24,700 units sold.
Honda Civic Type R Prototype On Track Left Front 3
Although the Euro-market Honda Civic Type R ended production in 2010, the automaker appears to be working on a replacement, if this prototype spotted testing on the street and at the Nürburgring is any indication. While the last model was a two-door hatchback, the new model appears to be based on the Euro-market four-door hatch already on sale.
