New For 2013

The Accord is all-new for 2013. A plug-in hybrid with a projected 100 mpg will be available in spring 2013.

Just when we thought the mid-size melee would end, major players started updating or overhauling their sedans for optimal kid hauling, grocery getting, commuting power, and efficiency. Honda’s 2013 Accord arrives this fall ready to duke it out with the best. It now offers eco-minded sedan owners up to 36 mpg with a new continuously variable transmission (six-speed manual and automatic transmissions are also available), and eco-warriors will appreciate the plug-in hybrid that arrives in spring 2013 with more than 100 mpge (miles per gallon equivalent). Sporty-Accord fans won’t be disappointed, either. The 3.5-liter V-6 returns with 278 hp and an available six-speed manual in the Accord coupe. In all, the Accord has four styles: coupe, plug-in hybrid, sedan, and sport sedan (with a slightly more powerful 2.4-liter in-line four). All ride atop a different suspension setup that Honda promises will curb noise, vibration, and harshness while keeping the Accord’s signature road feel. Inside, Honda has added HondaLink, a Harmon-developed system that uses voice activation for infotainment features and integrates with a smart phone for more connectivity. Whether or not the new model will be a hit remains to be seen. Then again, the Accord’s unimpeachable reputation as efficient, capable, and reliable precedes it.

Front, side, and side curtain air bags are standard, as are ABS, a tire-pressure monitoring system, and stability and traction control.

To celebrate the Fourth of July, we're drinking bourbon. You can't get much more of an all-American spirit than bourbon, given that to be labelled as such it must be made in America, is made from a grain mixture of at least 51 percent corn, and aged in charred oak barrels for at least two years. So pour yourself a few fingers of your favorite bourbon whiskey, get some rocks to keep it cool in the steamy July weather, and enjoy. Some of our staff favorites include Elmer T. 2008 Chrysler Town Country Backup Camera
Following in the footsteps of airbags, stability control, anti-lock brakes and other safety technologies, it appeared for a time like the next safety rule change that would affect all automakers would be mandatory backup cameras. It initially appeared that the mandate would go into effect for 2014 model year vehicles, but the rule has been postponed once again. Bloomberg is reporting part of the holdup is due to regulators debating the addition of safety rating incentives for vehicles that have the feature.

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid Front Three Quarters
Honda has released information and photos about the upcoming hybrid version of the 2014 Accord sedan, which is expected to lead its class in fuel economy ratings with an estimated 49/45/47mpg city/highway/combined. Along with the Accord Sedan and Accord Coupe, the Hybrid will join the Accord Plug-In that went on sale in New York and California in January. Although pricing is yet to be announced, expect the Hybrid to start somewhere in between the sedan’s base price of $22,470 and the Plug-In’s $40,570.
