Weekend Roundup: German Luxury brands to Import Small Cars, 2011 Dodge Charger

First Look at Updated 2011 Dodge Charger

Chrysler promised it would revamp every vehicle under its umbrella, and the Charger is one of the first we see. New for 2011, the Charger receives a fresh face, a new rear end with LED tail lights, and reworked door skins. The most significant change though is the new Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 found under its hood that replaces the aging 2.7 and 3.5-liter V-6s.

Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz Will All Bring Small Vehicles to the U.S. Market

The United States perception of German luxury vehicles is about to change, as the automakers will soon supplement their full and midsize offerings with compact vehicles. They've been in production for some time now, but the three luxury automakers will soon import smaller vehicles to meet stringent U.S. fleet-wide fuel economy requirements. Expect compact offerings from BMW and Mercedes to begin arriving stateside within two years.

Volt Home Charging Station Install with Mark Reuss

In just a few months the 2011 Chevrolet Volt will finally be available for consumption, but until then we'll have to live vicariously through the folks lucky enough to test the car. This week we tagged along with General Motors' president Mark Reuss as he had a 240-volt charging system for the Volt installed in his garage. The new charging station fully charges the battery pack in just three hours - a standard 120 volt charge can take up to 11 hours.

Powered by a twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine, with an expected 450 horsepower output, BMW is aiming at taking down the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and Audi R8 V-10.
