Volvo has teased the all-new V40, but the car remains shrouded in an aura of mystery, with the latest teaser giving a hint of what's in store for the upcoming Geneva show. To add to the sense of anticipation, Volvo has also included a countdown clock to the V40's official reveal.
A shadowy silhouette of the V40 against the sun is seen in a new teaser image Volvo posted on its Facebook page, and thanks to the magic of Photoshop, we were able to get a decent look at the upcoming hatchback. What we can see is an S60-like front grille and Volvo's signature visual shoulders; the overall look of the V40 seems to be close to that of the larger V60 wagon. Volvo Cars CEO Stefan Jacoby has also said that the V40 has “more than three doors,” and judging by the teaser shot, we can see the V40 has four doors and a rear hatch. Headlights that look like evolutions the current C30's and a set of either LED running lights or chrome accents round out the front end.
Volvo has also displayed a countdown on the Facebook page, reminding viewers how much time is left until the V40's live launch at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6. Site visitors are also invited to enjoy interactive content on the page, and even ask questions to Volvo designers live after the big launch.
But for now, we can only speculate what will power the new V40, which could include a range of gasoline and diesel engines ranging from 115 to 230 horsepower that are currently used in the European S40. One thing we do know for sure? What happens in Europe stays in Europe. Volvo has confirmed the V40 will not make it to U.S. shores.
