Comprehensively updated for 2012, the new model has a more muscular, chiseled appearance compared to its cartoonish predecessor. VW is hoping the new styling some have described as “Porsche-like” will attract more male customers, as the previous model’s customer base skewed heavily female.

Standard features on the 2012 model include split-folding rear seats, 17-inch alloy wheels , and an auxiliary input for the eight-speaker sound system. Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, heated front seats, and three-color interior ambient lighting are optional on the 2.5 and standard on the turbo. Available on the 2.5 and standard on the turbo is the “kaeferfach” upper glovebox reminiscent of the original  Beetle.

VW has lost its mind. First they cheapen down the Jetta and Passat. Then they up the price on a small two door coupe. For 25 grand I would rather have the Mazda 3 with the 260 HP engine or a Mini Cooper S. The first is much faster and has four doors the other looks a lot better.

Is $24,765 including DSG and the red and black leather? Hope so for VW's sake cause adding 5k to the price will be way to expensive for this car, and no one will be able to afford it!
