Although Viper owners have typically relied upon dealers to keep their snakes in ship-shape, they now have a new parts source: the Viper Club of America.
The VCA struck a deal with Chrysler to buy a number of Viper parts, most of which are either excess inventory or sport minor cosmetic blemishes. Inventory largely consists of body panels, but many are in discontinued paint colors, or are reportedly pulled from historic Vipers (including one Competition Coupe that raced an F-16 fighter jet).
The store claims it is offering the parts well below MSRP, and will extend an extra 10-percent discount to active Viper Club members. One downside: None of the parts carries a Chrysler warranty. Proceeds from sales will help sustain VCA activities.
Should this exercise prove to be a success, the VCA may move to purchase older tooling from Chrysler to supply parts for Viper owners in the years to come.
