V8 Vantage Revamp: Aston Martin Adds Hotter 2010 N420 Edition to Vantage Lineup

On the heels of the race-inspired 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage N400, Aston Martin has updated the race-inspired package for the 2010 V8 Vantage. Cosmetic upgrades, as well as major changes under the skin, highlight the transformation from N400 to the new N420.

While the N420 continues the N400's place in the Aston Martin lineup as a special edition coupe with cues taken from Aston Martin's racing program, it receives significant powerplant, chassis, and cosmetic changes. The N420, available as either a coupe or a roadster, takes the already quick V8 Vantage and makes it look better while going fast.

The biggest news between the N400 and N420 is under the skin, where the V8 Vantage's 4.7-liter V-8, making 420 horsepower good for 180 mph, has displaced the N400's older 4.3-liter V-8 engine. Sports Pack suspension upgrades, including modified springs and dampers for sharper handling, complement a throatier exhaust note for the N420's bigger motor.

Should you only choose to ogle the Vantage's body, however, you won't be disappointed. The N420 is available in three colors that recall the success of Aston's N24 racing cars -- "Rose" yellow, "Kermit" green, "Elwood" blue -- as well as traditional British Racing Green. The model featured in these photographs is sporting the black-and-white "Asia Cup" package. The interior is festooned with all of Aston Martin's latest tech offerings, as well as special seat stitching and N420 emblems.

The N420 will debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this August. Production and U.K. deliveries are also set to begin in August with a price of just under $150,000 (£96,995).
