Bentley continues to drum up anticipation for its upcoming ultra-luxury SUV that will debut in 2016 with a new teaser video that gives another glimpse at this unnamed sport-ute. Although this preview doesn’t give away much more than previous teasers, it does give us the clearest look yet at the Bentley SUV’s face, which mimics other Bentley models with its imposing front grille and round headlights.
Overall, we expect the Bentley SUV to look a lot like the Bentley EXP 9 F Concept from the 2012 Geneva auto show. Bentley has made some revisions to the front end, though, as the new SUV has two large round headlights flanking the grille, and two smaller round turn signals to the side of each headlight. It’s a look that’s very similar to that of the recently refreshed 2014 Bentley Continental.
In terms of powertrains, the Bentley SUV will first launch with a version of the company's existing W-12 engine. Look for this powertrain to produce upwards of 600 hp, as the twin-turbo 6.0-liter W-12 in the Bentley Flying Spur makes 616 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Four-wheel drive will presumably be standard, and it’s also possible that Bentley could produce a volume model of the SUV with the same twin-turbo V-8 engine found in the Continental GT and Flying Spur models. Bentley also says that a plug-in hybrid version of the SUV will go on sale in 2017.
