Unique Nissan GT-R Inspired by Usain Bolt Gets $187,100 at Auction

The Nissan GT-R inspired by Usain Bolt has just sold at auction for $187,100. While that's far more than any showroom-ready GT-R, this one is a one-of-a-kind creation signed by Bolt painted in bright gold paint, and part of an auction that also included $6000 of Bolt merchandise to benefit the Usain Bolt Foundation.

The winning bid for the Bolt Gold Nissan GT-R was placed by an enthusiast in Australia, who appreciated the brightly colored supercar’s connection to Bolt, saying, “The fact that this gold GT-R also celebrates the incredible achievements of the great Usain Bolt makes it something very special indeed.”

The $193,191 raised overall will help increase educational and cultural opportunities for children and young people in Jamaica. Meanwhile, one lucky Australian can enjoy a unique GT-R — well, perhaps unique until Nissan prepares a limited-edition model with input from Bolt.

For the 2014 model year, the Nissan GT-R has been updated again, this time with minor changes to the engine and chassis, and a new red leather interior will be available. After driving a Japan-spec 2014 Nissan GT-R, we were impressed: “Based on our test laps around Sugo, the revised coupe turns in sharper, is more stable into and out of the corners, has a more compliant ride, and delivers stronger throttle response in the high rev ranges than last year’s version.”

How much would you pay for a one-of-a-kind Bolt Gold Nissan GT-R with proceeds benefiting charity?
