Tuned Trident: Novitec Tridente Creates a 590-Horsepower Maserati Quattroporte

July 21, 2010
Few would call the Maserati Quattroporte, one of the best-looking sedans on the market, underpowered. German tuner Novitec Tridente, Novitec Rosso's Maserati tuning division, however, has come up with a solution to give the Quattroporte more power to go along with its looks.
Novitec Tridente starts with the 4.7-liter V-8 from either the Quattroporte S or GT S and adds a supercharger running 5 PSI of boost, along with a water-to-air intercooler, to keep engine operating temperatures at a safe level. A new custom intake manifold and larger fuel injectors round out the physical changes while a reprogrammed engine control unit manages the electronics.
These changes bring the output of the Quattroporte's V-8 to 590 horsepower and 422 pound-feet of torque. These figures are up from 430 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque in the Quattroporte S and from 440 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque in the Quattroporte GT S. By the tuner's estimation, this increase in power brings the Quattroporte's 0 to 62 mph time to 4.6 seconds, a 0.5 second improvement over the GT S, and 0.8 second over the S.
In order to better handle the increased power, Novitec Tridente also equipped the Quattroporte with a new, fully electronically adjustable sport suspension, with several different settings to vary the stiffness and height. Custom 21-inch, three-piece aluminum alloy wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero high-performance tires ensure the power gets to the ground.
As opposed to some tuners that want their cars to be noticed from a mile away, Novitec Tridente has taken a subtle, refined approach to exterior modifications. In addition to the enhancements mentioned above is an optional carbon-fiber decklid spoiler. The interior, however, can be completely customized using leather or Alcantara, and can also be outfitted with electronic goodies such as Wi-Fi, Blu-Ray players, and more.
The Maserati Quattroporte by Novitec Tridente is available to order now. The engine tuning costs €19,900 ($25,600), and you'll have to contact Novitec Tridente for suspension and interior upgrade pricing.
