Get ready for even more explosions and brightly-painted exotic cars. Paramount Pictures has revealed three of the vehicular stars of "Transformers 4," the next movie from the blockbuster series that has grossed a combined $2.6 billion globally.
The film's 2014 Chevrolet Corvette is bright green, with black stripes on the sides and a giant rear wing. If its mechanicals are stock, look for a 6.2-liter V-8 engine producing 455-460 hp and 460-465 lb-ft of torque, depending on whether the car is equipped with the optional sports exhaust. A standard C7 Corvette will cost $51,995, including destination, but we're guessing that one capable of transforming into a robot would cost a bit more.
The new movie will also star a transforming Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. The convertible packs a 1200-hp punch thanks to its quad-turbocharged, 8.0-liter W-16 engine. On a test track in Germany, the car managed to hit 254 mph, surely enough to outrun whatever peril the Decepticons have in store for the Autobots. Its two-tone paint job consists of light blue on the car's lower half, and black on the remainder of the body.
Finally, the film studio revealed that Autobot leader Optimus Prime will this time disguise himself as a brightly colored Western Star truck (the previous three installments in the franchise used a Peterbuilt truck.) Aside from the giant chrome exhaust stacks, the truck stands out from normal models thanks to a red-on-blue flame paint job, and prodigious amounts of chrome for the grille, front bumper, and fuel tanks.
"Transformers 4" is in theaters June 27, 2014. It stars Mark Wahlberg and will, like the previous three films, be directed by Michael Bay.
