The Toyota RAV4 -- the brand's third-bestselling vehicle -- will offer an Upgrade Value Package for the 2011 model year.

Now in the second half of its lifecycle, the current-generation RAV4 will offer the new package bundling a number of popular options usually reserved for the upscale Limited trim level. On four-cylinder models, the cost is $1610 while it's $1490 on the V-6. The package includes a six-disc CD player, XM Radio, rear privacy glass, steering wheel audio controls, 17-inch alloy wheels, a roof rack, upgraded fabric, a power moonroof, and a rear cargo area tonneau for those who opt for the two-row edition.

Base model RAV4s can add the package. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder on the RAV4 produces 179 horsepower while the 3.5-liter V-6 makes 269 horsepower. The RAV4 Sport is pictured.

Pricing on the RAV4 starts at $22,735 including destination. Sales of the RAV4 are up year-to-date 16.4 percent, to 111,706 units, compared to the first eight months of 2009. For comparison, the Honda CR-V has sold 126,379 in the same period and Ford has moved 128,507 Escapes.

Do you think the Upgrade Value Package on the RAV4 will help Toyota approach the sales of its rivals?
