Toyota Teases New Hybrid Concept Car Ahead of Detroit Auto Show

Toyota NAIAS Teaser
This close-up photo of a headlight is our first teaser photo of the Toyota NS4 concept, a plug-in hybrid that will bow at the Detroit auto show next month. Other than releasing this image, Toyota hasn’t revealed anything about the new concept car.
If the Toyota NS4 uses a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, it might be similar to that employed in the new Prius plug-in hybrid. The 2012 Prius Plug-In uses a 98-hp, 1.8-liter inline-four gasoline engine and an 80-hp electric motor. According to Toyota, the car can travel about 15 miles on electrical power alone, before operating as a traditional hybrid car.
The headlight assembly pictured here has blue-tinted housings and LED accent lights, as well as a marking that reads “Adaptive Driving Beam.” That references Toyota’s proposed system to automatically shield high-beam headlights, preventing them from dazzling oncoming drivers at night.
We expect more information on the Toyota NS4 concept to emerge as we get closer to the start of the Detroit show. For the latest news surrounding the 2012 Detroit auto show, stay with
