Toyota President to Race LF-A at Nurburgring 24

Toyota president Akio Toyoda will drive the Lexus LF-A as part of a four-man Gazoo Racing team racing at the Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race May 21 through May 24.

Akio is the grandson of Kiichiro Toyoda, the founder of the world's largest automaker. This isn't the first time he'll have raced the LF-A: he raced the on-again off-again Lexus halo car last November at the Toyota Motorsports Festival at Fuji Speedway.

We snapped a few pictures of the LF-A at last year's Nurburgring 24, where it shared a garage with Aston Martin, including a picture of the engine.

As far as we know, a production LF-A is off again - but perhaps if the auto market makes a recovery in the next few years, we may yet get a chance to drive Lexus' supercar.
