Prospective buyers of the Scion iQ will have to wait a little longer for the all-new subcompact, according to Toyota.
The automaker originally planned to bring pre-production iQ models for media to drive this month, with sales of the subcompact to start around March. However, a backlog of testing and planning back in Japan finally led to the decision to push the launch to summer.
“Look for media drives around June,” said Greg Thome, Communications Manager – Toyota Division, reiterating there would be no major changes to the iQ from the model shown at the 2010 New York Auto Show. Thome continued that summer would be a better time for the iQ’s launch, giving public relations and Scion dealerships more time to acquaint themselves with the vehicle. The delay, Thome says, also helps in the sales of the 2011 Scion tC, which was launched last October.
Thome states final pricing will be announced 4-6 weeks before the iQ’s launch.
