The midsize sedan sales crown was again taken by the Toyota Camry in October, with 29,144 units sold. The Honda Accord found itself in second place with 25,162 units sold, while the Nissan Altima was third with 21,785 units sold.
Nipping at the Altima's heels was the Ford Fusion, which sold 21,740 units in October. The Hyundai Sonata was fifth-place with sales of 19,672 units, which was enough to put it ahead of the Chevrolet Malibu's 15,746 units for the month. The Sonata's strong October performance also places its year-to-date sales (172,574 units) ahead of the Malibu's (170,696 units) for the first time in 2013. Behind the Malibu in seventh place was the Kia Optima with 11,492 units sold.
The first midsizer outside of the five-digit results was the Chrysler 200 in eighth place, with sales of 8348 units. The Volkswagen Passat again landed in the middle of a Chrysler Group sandwich, with the German sedan selling 7258 units and the Dodge Avenger selling 5406 units. The Mazda6 sold 3100 units, more than doubling its 1515 sales from October 2012. Rounding out the group again was the Subaru Legacy, which managed to find 3090 buyers in October.
